UNIX System Admin
About the Opportunity
Responsible for supporting and maintaining infrastructure systems and business application servers. Will work with development teams to build, test, implement, support and maintain medium and high complexity project environments. The Unix Systems Administrator may assist in design, build and testing different configurations to identify the appropriate solution.
Assists infrastructure consultants and technical specialists with testing new technologies and methodologies. Resolves Level 2 system problems either independently or as part of a team, seeks support and obtains support from software vendors, hardware manufacturers and/or appropriate in-house experts if needed. Assists with the design of deployment architecture and maintenance for medium and complex development projects.
Participate in IT infrastructure and development projects and provides subject matter expertise.
Designs deployment architecture for medium and complex development projects.
Trouble shoot and resolve technical operational issues related to IT infrastructure such as Level 2 troubleshooting with the Production Support, Service Desk, Infrastructure and Development teams on application that is not working as designed.
Conducts research and testing related to assigned development projects and infrastructure initiatives, recommends solutions and/or changes to improve performance, stability, functionality or systems management processes.
Provide third level support for Production incidents as needed performs emergency remediation if necessary. Conducts post-incident root cause analysis.
Participate in the change management process to ensure changes are understood and planned for. Review technical aspects of the change for assigned initiatives. Execute technical tasks assigned.

College or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or the Engineering field
Proficient working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Access
7-10 years of demonstrated experience in Unix (Redhat Linux, Solaris 10/11)
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects on a deadline and coordinate with both technical and non-technical resources.
Good technical documentation abilities
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written)
Familiar with, understands change management process
Relevant Professional Certifications/Designations
Solid understanding of standard internet protocols such as HTTP, SMTP or DNS
Solid experience with Java Application Servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic)
Results driven, team oriented
Familiarity with Puppet, Chef or any other tools for configuration and deployment automation
Provisioning with vmWare based Linux environments
Disaster Recovery using vmWare SRM
Scripting in Python or Ruby
Load balancing, switching, firewalls
Revision control with Git or Subversion
System Provisioning using Kickstart (automated deployment tool) or Spacewalk (network Satellite Server for linux servers)
Active Directory integration of Unix hosts
Monitoring tools: Zabbix, Nagios, Graphite
Web Application Deployment on LAMP stacks
VM infrastructure related administration experience
